Obama and Bush join together for a first sep11th ceremony

It was touching, formal and a first for them both: President Barack Obama and former President George Bush, side by side, at site of the former World Trade Center towers.

Last spring, just days after Osama bin Laden was killed by U.S. army, Obama flew to New York City for a few moments at Ground Zero, to respect those who had fallen in the terrorist attacks.

But when he completed an invitation to former President George W. Bush, the invite was declined.

On Sunday, the two stood gently in front of the bronze parapets that envelop the giant reflecting pools, which stand in the correct footprints of the former twin towers.

First Lady Michele Obama stands by the president's side, and Laura Bush stand next to the former president.

On May 5, when he visited the site, Obama renowned, "It did not matter who was in charge, we were going to make sure that the perpetrators of that terrible act that they established justice."

At the time, the former president wished to stay out of the spotlight, CNN reported a Bush spokesman saying.

But today's ceremony combined the two families, and was noticeable by the memorable sign when Michele Obama comforted Laura Bush as she broke down in tears.

Hawaii won't release birth information of Obama

Democratic Gov. Neil Abercrombie will end his mission to prove President Barack Obama was born in Hawaii because it's against state law to release private documents, his office said Friday.

Abercrombie spokeswoman Donalyn Dela Cruz said, State Attorney General David Louie said, the governor he can't reveal an individual's birth documentation without a person's consent.

"There is nothing more that Gov. Abercrombie can do inside the law to produce a document," said Dela Cruz. "Unfortunately, there are conspirators who will persist to question the citizenship of our president."

Abercrombie, who was a friend of Obama's parents and know him as a child, launched an effort last month to find a way to dismiss conspiracy theories that the president was born elsewhere.

The governor said at the time he was troubled by people who questioned Obama's birthplace for political reasons.

Hawaii's privacy laws have long banned the release of a certified birth certificate to anyone who doesn't have a touchable interest.

So called "birthers" claim Obama is ineligible to be president because they say there's no proof he was born in the United States, with many of the skeptics inquiring whether he was actually born in Kenya, his father's home country.

Hawaii's health director said in 2008 and 2009 that she had seen and verified Obama's original vital records, and birth notices in two Honolulu newspapers were available within days of Obama's birth at Kapiolani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital in Honolulu.

This information called index data, shows a record for "Obama II, Barack Hussein, Male," according to the department's website.

The president was born Aug. 4, 1961.
The Obama campaign issued a official document of live birth in 2008, an official document from the state showing the president's birth date, city and name, along with his parents' names and races.

Obama signs $1.4 billion food safety system inspect

Law requires more government inspections at dealing out facilities and allows regulators to recall unsafe product.

President Barack Obama has signed a $1.4 billion renovate of the nation's food safety system requiring more government inspections at food processing facilities and allowing federal regulators to order the recall of unsafe products.
The traditionalist lawmakers, sensitive to public frustration over high levels of government spending, are balking at the price tag. Obama has said, food safety is a main concern for him.

Obama signed the bill into law Tuesday, a day before a more Republican and less White House friendly assembly returns to Washington.

The law emphasizes anticipation to help stop outbreaks of food borne illness before they happen. It requires food manufacturers to get ready detailed food safety plans and to tell the Food and Drug Administration what they are doing to keep the food safe at different stages of production.
